We've spoken in length about this year's deep MLB free agent starting pitcher market, and yet David Price and Jordan Zimmerman both received huge contracts.  Teams are still acting as if they are desperate for starting pitcher.  Granted some teams, like the Boston Red Sox, might be.  There is also a new emphasis on runs saved which could be playing into it.  Overall, however, we think teams are overpaying, and the market may adjust as teams fill their needs. Jeff Samardzja is not a $100 million dollar pitcher, but he may get that.  In 2015 he had a 4.96 era.  Obviously he's better than that, but still needs to prove it.  Teams should stay far away at that price.
