The sides are in the preliminary stages of discussing a reunion. The Reds are discussing the possibility of bringing back right-hander Bronson Arroyo, according to a major-league source. One source familiar with negotiations said Wednesday that a deal is not close between the sides, and it is unknown if a formal offer has been made.
This move would remind me a little of the Jeremy Hellickson deal to the Philadelphia Phillies.  I mean this in the sense that it's a curious move for a team to bring in an innings eater when they do not look to compete in 2016. That being said, this makes a little more sense than Hellickson to the Phillies.  For one, the Cincinnati Reds are closer to competing that the Phillies, should they decide to do a small rebuild around their core.  More importantly, Bronson Arroyo, had a lot of success with the Reds for a long time.  He may also want to finish his career with them. Either way, it seems like Arroyo would probably have more interest than the Reds.
