MLB Phillies Trade Rumors: Phillies Interested in Marcell Ozuna
MLB Trade Rumors Phillies
Christian Moreno of ESPN Deportes reported on Thursday that the Phillies have interest in trading for Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna. Ozuna struggled in the first half of the season before being demoted to Triple-A New Orleans in early July. There’s more to Ozuna’s demotion than performance. Team owner Jeffrey Loria didn’t want to play Ozuna due to playing time concerns, and former GM and manager Dan Jennings played Ozuna against Loria’s wishes, as USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale reported. That led to Jennings’ dismissal at the end of October. It's difficult to see what the Philadelphia Phillies end game is here. Now, Matt Klentak did say during his press conference, "I would have left Mike Trout in his prime if I thought we couldn't win here". Does that mean he thinks they can win now, because acquiring Marcell Ozuna seems like a "win-now" move. The Phillies are coming off the do-nothing era of Ruban Amaro Jr. Matt Klentak, a Jerry Dipoto acolyte, would likely be much more active. Ozuna is also someone most see as currently undervalued, and perhaps Klentak is looking to take advantage of that. Ozuna dropped from 23 home runs in 2014 to 10 in 2015, but has only been in the league for three seasons. Teams like the Phillies is why this is going to be a very active MLB offseason full of MLB Trade Rumors.
