The Cleveland Indians need an outfielder while the Yankees need a starting pitcher. Surely, the Indians figured that the Yankees would be an interesting trade partner, right? According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, the Cleveland Indians have spoke with the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers about preliminary trade talks. And with each of the three teams, the Indians would be willing to give a starter for an outfielder. Two of the names the Indians are willing to trade are Danny Salazar and Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco went 14-12 with a 3.63 ERA in 30 starts while Salazar went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA in 30 starts.
All three of these teams seem like a good partner for the Indians.  Trading either Danny Salazar or Carlos Carrasco, however, would be a huge mistake for the Cleveland Indians.  They are both young, valuable, high strike out arms that can lead the Indians rotation for years to come. The problem is this is a terrible time to trade a pitcher.  Sure a lot of teams are looking, but the market is filled with valuable free agents, and trade options.  It's unlikely you would get value for either Salazar or Carrasco. The Indians have an opportunity to build around a solid rotation.  There is also plenty of available outfield talent on the free agent market.  Stay the course.
