Buehrle might retire. But if he wants to pitch for another season, it will be with the Cardinals. There is no guarantee Mark Buehrle will pitch next season. But if he decides he is not yet ready to retire, he would join the St. Louis Cardinals, according to The Toronto Sun's Bob Elliott. Lance Lynn was recently shut down with Tommy John surgery and is not expected to be healthy enough to pitch at any point in 2016. As a result, the expectation is the Cardinals will pursue a temporary veteran starter and Buehrle would likely prove to be exactly that...
Mark Buehrle would be the perfect option for the St. Louis Cardinals given their long term pitching depth, and temporary injury bug.  Lance Lynn was a huge loss, but the Cardinals have the ability to absorb that kind of loss., especially with the return of Adam Wainwright.  Buehrle would be the temporary patch work the Cardinals need. He desire to only return to the Cardinals is also understandable.  He is a Missouri native, and an accomplished Major League veteran.  Why would he return for anything other than competing for a championship.  And finishing your career with your hometown team I'm sure fulfills a childhood dream. Would love to see Mark Buehrle grace us with his ability for one more season.
