Four of them are a lock for the rotation, Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Lance McCullers, and most likely Mike Fiers. The other candidates are Vincent Velasquez, Scott…The Astros are in a great spot this offseason. Much like the Cubs, they have a solid young core, and can focus on filling small gaps. This is also the perfect offseason to do just that, especially at starting pitcher. There are a plethora of veteran free agent starting pitchers, so the Houston Astros should have no trouble finding someone. Scott Kazmir was solid in the first half of 2015, but the Astros should be able to easily replace his numbers in Houston. With the Astros he posted a 4.17 earned run average in 73.1 innings pitching, and his fielding independent pitching (FIP) was 5.19.
