Update

John Lackey’s contract will be worth $32 million as reported by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Chicago Cubs are in agreement with free agent pitcher John Lackey for two-years, $32-34 million, as first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The Chicago Cubs have been tied to a number of free agent pitchers, but most notably missed on signing David Price.

John Lackey had a career resurgence last season with an era of 2.77 in 218 innings with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a large part of the reason the Cardinals had the best record in baseball in 2015.

The Cubs add the rotation depth they were looking for.  Former Lackey teammates John Lester and David Ross played a big part of the recruiting process for the Cubs.
