The right-hander heads back to the Bay on a 5-year deal. The Giants have come to terms on a 5-year, $90 million contract with free-agent starter Jeff Samardzija, a source has confirmed to MLB Daily Dish. The deal is pending a physical and includes a limited no-trade clause. The signing was first reported by Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area.
The Diamondbacks signing of Zack Greinke has put the offeason free agent signings into high gear.  The Dodgers and Giants were favorites to sign Greinke, but missed on him because they wouldn't go to a sixth year.  The Giants are the first to strike with the signing of Jeff Samardzija. Jeff Samardzija comes with risk with a 4.96 era in 2015, but the San Francisco Giants were able to get him at a "discount".  A move back to the National League and to AT&T Park should also support his 2016 effort.
