The Giants are gearing up for an even-year run, and David Price and Yoenis Cespedes are players they are looking into. According to Jon Heyman and Buster Olney, the Giants are doing background work on two of the biggest free agents available. "The Giants have been considering outfield star Yoenis Cespedes, but they are a bit concerned that his regular-[season] finish might cause his price tag to rise by $50 million, or more. They have also liked Justin Upton before. But in all cases, there's some suspicion they'd prefer to keep outfield pay to the range of $90 million, which is what they paid their own star Hunter Pence".
It's no surprise that the Giants are active in the free agent market, and that they are consider adding a pitcher and an outfielder.  What is a surprise is that fact that they are considering Price and Cespedes. We still think it's more likely that Giants consider more affordable options at pitcher.  For instance, bringing back Mike Leake.  Cespedes, however, makes a lot of sense for the Giants.  He is the kind of well rounded player the Giants typically look for.  That being said, we think it's more likely that they consider Justin Upton even with his price tag.
