The slugger heads to San Francisco and may have a good chance to make the major-league roster. The Giants have agreed to a minor-league deal with Kyle Blanks, according to a major-league source. The deal is pending a physical. John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle was the first to report that a deal was close.
Kyle Blanks is a player that has always shown tremendous power potential.  Unfortunately, that has never played out for any significant period of time at the Major League level. He did show, however, a lot of promise last season with the Texas Rangers, and in the second half of 2014 with the Oakland Athletics.  He hit .333 with the A's and .313 with the Rangers. If nothing else, Blanks could end up as a solid pinch hitting option off the bench for the San Francisco Giants.
