Zobrist chose the Cubs over the Mets, who pursued him aggressively. NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Cubs are in agreement with Ben Zobrist on a 4-year, $56 million contract, according to a major-league source. The deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Zobrist will receive a $2 million signing bonus before receiving $10 million in 2016, $16 million in 2017, $16 million in 2018 and $12 million in 2019, according to a source.
Another day, another surprise free agent destination.  Our predictions aren't really working out. Ben Zobrist will reunite with Joe Maddon in Chicago to add veteran leadership to a young deep Cubs team.  Zobrist is also a versatile player who can play multiple positions.  This is important for the Cubs, as they don't necessarily have any gaping holes. Zobrist is above average in nearly every aspect of the game.  In 2015 he hit .276 in 467 AB's.  Nice pick-up for the Cubs.
