The trade is the first transaction between David Stearns and his former employer. The Brewers have acquired shortstop Jonathan Villar from the Astros in exchange for right-hander Cy Sneed, according to a team announcement. The deal is the first between Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and his former assistant David Stearns, who is the new general manager in Milwaukee.
Jonathan Villar was getting a significant amount of playing time for the Houston Astros until the arrival of American League Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa. In 116 AB's in 2015 Villar hit for a .286 batting average and a .339 on-base-percentage.  He is an adequate middle infielder, but the Astros simply do not need him anymore.  Given the slim market for middle infielders, the Astros might as well get what they can.  In this case it was Cy Sneed.
