The deal is worth $2.8 million dollars.
Geovany Soto fills a big void for the Angels as they recently lost former catcher Chris Iannetta to the Seattle Mariners in free agency.
The 32 year old veteran still has some left in the tank, but he clearly can’t be the primary option. In 2015 only had 187 AB’s and hasn’t had more than 200 AB’s since 2012. His batting average in 2015 was .219.
The Angels will likely still be on the look out for depth at the catcher position. Wouldn’t be surprised if they carried three this year. Carlos Perez should still be their primary option.
